Good for your productivity and your health

If you are anything like me you sit down at your computer and after what seems like only a minute you realize it’s been hours since you even stood up. And that bathroom break you thought about a minute ago was actually 1.5 hours ago.

This behavior affects not only my productivity but also my health. I guess we all know by now just how bad sitting too long is for your health. And working for 4 hours straight isn’t good for my productivity and creativity either.

But a couple of months ago I read about the Pomodoro Technique and decided to try it out. It’s a timer app that breaks up my workday into time blocks: 25 min work, 5 min break, 25 min work, 5 min break and so on. My mind stays fresh while I work and during my 5 minute breaks I make tea, clean, do the dishes, sort laundry, call a friend, and basically just move around the house until the timer beeps and it’s time to start my next work period. My productivity has never been better and my house has never been so clean!
